CTT, Portugal’s postal service, is committed to serving its communities in multiple ways. Its wellbeing initiatives go beyond employees, extending to their families, retirees, and the wider community, reflecting CTT’s long-standing commitment to both its people and society.
Health Plan
CTT’s health plan, co-funded by the organization, with an annual investment exceeding €30 million, covers more than 35,000 individuals — including 18,000 active employees and retirees, and 17,000 family members — ensuring access to healthcare services, including psychological and psychiatric support, fostering both prevention and treatment of mental health issues.
A fully dedicated team of CTT Social Workers acts as a crucial bridge between employees, retirees, and their families. These professionals provide support in situations of emotional crisis, psychiatric illness, addiction, violence, and challenges associated with aging. They work closely with the health plan, charitable institutions, mental health services, and community networks to deliver an integrated and effective response, enabling early intervention.
The impact has been significant. In 2024, Social Workers directly supported 1,763 families — including 991 employees and family members and 772 retirees and family members — in situations of emotional crisis, social issues, mental illness, addiction, and aging challenges.
Digital Tools
CTT also promotes wellbeing through practical digital tools. For example, the “Sou CTT” app allows employees and up to five family members or friends to access more than 600 discounted goods and services, including mental health, wellbeing, sports, leisure, education, and nutrition — helping to promote self-care, prevention, and easier access to therapies and healthy practices.
Sports and Culture
The CTT Sports, Cultural and Recreational Club is open to employees and their families, fostering emotional wellbeing through sports and cultural activities, strengthening social cohesion and community. To promote good nutrition and support community, CTT co-funds meals in company cafeterias for all 18,000 active employees and retirees.
CTT has provided 4,541 childhood-related benefits (such as study grants, childcare, nursery, and early-childhood vouchers), contributing to food security, family stability, and reduced financial stress for young families.
CTT’s community commitment extends to those experiencing vulnerability. Through its collaboration with Koiki, a delivery company that employs individuals facing social exclusion, CTT reinforces its dedication to reintegration and rebuilding self-esteem.
Internal Wellbeing
CTT’s 2022–2030 internal strategy reinforces its commitment to People, Communities, and Clients, focusing on healthy, human-centered, and inclusive work environments. Employee mental health remains a priority, integrated into management practices, internal communication, and ways of working. Leadership, Workers’ Committees, and unions actively contribute to strategic alignment and ongoing support.
Positive Impact
CTT has adopted a holistic, multi-faceted, and multi-generational approach to promoting inclusion, positive mental health, and wellbeing across its people and the wider community.
